Architects Home Tour: Burnt Earth Beach

Burnt Earth Beach House in Anglesea is John Wardle's latest house, a showcase of fine detailing, materiality and space. John opens his home in a rare opportunity to view and hear him discuss the design and stories behind its creation. This is a multi-generational home that utilises terracotta in two primary forms - through the exterior brickwork and internally to line walls, floors and joinery elements.  The landscaping situates the home in its coastal environment and reveals moments of whimsy and delight. The dwelling works as haven both functionally and aesthetically, providing connection for its inhabitants to the landscape and to each other.

All proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
Duration: 60-min talk and tour

Architects Home Tour: AB House

Office MI-JI and their clients open their home for a tour and opportunity for the public to immerse in an award-winning architecturally designed home.

A bounded house on a Barwon Heads block, this second home separates interaction across the site in order to exacerbate it when desired. Raised off the ground due to a flooding overlay, the house is broken up into primary elements of varying spatial organisation. Set inside a deformed perimeter of columns, each element functions on its own, allowing the family to grow and recede during the ever-changing occupation over the course of a year.

Duration: 30-min tour
